Tom Gurin uses sound to explore sculpture, space, and three-dimensional forms. He was a 2023-24 resident-laureate at the Cité internationale des arts, and the recipient of a Mortimer Hays-Brandeis Traveling Fellowship, which supported his year-long sound art project inspired by French bells and bell towers. Previously, he was a Fulbright-Harriet Hale Woolley Scholar, and is the only to person to have completed residencies in both music and visual arts at the United States Foundation in Paris. He is currently pursuing a master’s degree in multimedia composition at the Haute École de Musique de Genève.

Corps Résonants
“Corps Résonants” is a multimedia, touch-sensitive installation by Tom Gurin. It uses the body as a physical filter for a feedback loop that resonates through the floor. A Max patch generates responsive video in real time using Jitter. The work aims to blur our sonic, visual, and tactile (i.e. physical) perceptions of vibration through the human body. It was presented at the Cité internationale des arts (Paris) in November 2023, at The Film Gallery (Paris) in February 2024, and at the Haute école de musique de Genève in February 2024.
